Sergejs Skusovs

I like creating things: apps, visual and technical designs, finding systems in a chaotic mess. I strongly believe in meaningful, minimalist, and functional design that helps users do what they need to do.

During my 18 years long career in IT, I've mostly dealt with product design, dev team building and management, software engineering. I've spent my first years 'learning the scene', then focused on gaining new skills in building products from scratch, management, and leadership.

At the moment, I'm focusing on building and implementing company wide design systems and frameworks.

My Work

Currently Ux & Accessibility

At the moment I work with ZZ Dats – Latvia's biggest software developer – being their UX & Accessibility Expert and also leading an awesome design team there.

We're working on implementing proper design process, developing LX/UI and overseeing design decisions for various projects.

Currently Public Speech

I often speak publicly about UX, Accessibility, LX/UI and my other projects at conferences, universities and community events.

Inside ZZ Dats, I also host a recurring podcast discussing UX practice, design process, and lessons learned from real product work.

2011–present Emy

While working at Meditec I've participated in designing, developing and managing the development of essential award winning dispatch software for Emergency Medical Services of Latvia – Emy. Eventually i became Emy's product owner, leading its growth and evolution to bring fast, secure and mobile work place for Emergency Medical.

In 2020 I took a position of System Analyst at Emergency Medical Services of Latvia, continuing to oversee Emy's development from client's side leading it into new era with modern technologies, integrations and AI.

2020–2022 The Pandemic

During the Pandemic, I worked on several Latvia-wide government projects that supported essential services and public health response efforts. I designed and helped build SAIRIS, an application providing a centralized view of hospital workload data across all Latvian hospitals, and contributed to ManaVakcina.lv, the country’s vaccination booking platform. I was also part of the team delivering Latvia’s COVID-19 certificate, among the earliest implementations in Europe.

2014–2020 eHealthPoint

I was a founder, product owner and lead programmer for eHealthPoint – a startup that began as an app helping to provide your precise location when calling for an Ambulance (crazy times before AML) and grew to offer healthcare bookings, EHR, paying hospital bills among other features for over 100 000 active users in Latvia.
